No, that's not a personal question. Twitter is a social networking application - it lets you and your friends post short messages - "twits" - that can be read on your computer or cell phone ( and you can post these messages from your phone or your computer). It's a way of keeping in touch, letting other people know what you've been up to, why you won't be at the dance this week, what funny thing you just saw. It's even useful for business: I use it partly for that and partly for personal reasons.
Twittering can be public or semi-private. That is, you can set your account so that only people you invite can see your twits. My Twitter is public: anyone can follow me at http://twitter.com/pcunix
So c'mon: twitter away. It's free (text messages sent from cell phones are free as far as Twitter goes but your cell phone company might charge you; computer twits are always free) and it's fun.
See you on Twitter!
