Lisa's USA Pizza

547 W. Grove St (Rte 28 near the Rotary) Middleboro, MA 02346
(508) 947-9393

Directions (less than 20 minutes from Oak Point)

After a "No Recall" rotary rally, a small gang of us stopped at Lisa's and ordered ten pizzas. Linda and I made sure to get our favorites in: Mushroom, Onion and Pepper for her and a Hawaiian for me. Linda also ordered a small salad.

We toyed with the idea of eating there, but we would have had to split up to multiple tables, so we took everything back to a friends house. Long time Middleboro residents, they told us that Lisa's owner insists on quality - so much so that if he cannot be there to control that, the restaurant simply isn't open. That annoys a few people now and then, but on the plus side, you know you can count on that consistency.

We really didn't have to wait long, but a waitress and then the owner himself came outside to apologize that the order wasn't filled more quickly. Gee, the place was busy: we didn't expect to get ten pizzas in ten minutes. We milled around outside until the owner brought out the boxes and apologized yet again. How often does that happen anywhere else? I piled the booty in the back of our car and we all headed to our friends home.

They have a beautiful old Victorian not far from the center of Middleboro, and soon we were all seated around their large dining room table. We had picked up a few extra people from the neighborhood, including a few hungry kids who saw us walking in with piles of pizza boxes; our friend cheerfully invited them and their parents in to share our dinner - good thing we ordered a few extra pizzas!

The salad Linda got was what most places would call "large". She said it could have used a bit more Romaine, but at least it wasn't all Iceberg, so she wasn't unhappy.

We all dug in quickly, hungry from our stint of waving signs at the rotary. I usually don't have more than two or three pieces unless the crust is thin and the toppings are light. This isn't "deep dish" pizza, but it isn't "thin" either, and the toppings were generous, so I probably only should have had two, but I actually ate four, and enjoyed every bite. Linda had more than she usually does also, though probably won't admit to wolfing down as much as I did.

We both agreed that Lisa's pizza is exceptionally good. All too often pizza is too heavily salted, and an hour after your meal you are overpowered by thirst. That wasn't the case with this. Fresh, good tasting, and from what our friends tell us, you can expect that to be consistently true.
