Deli at AL Prime Rte 28

You might not expect to find a great deli inside a gas station convenience store, but The Convenience Store Pizza and Deli at AL Prime (414 West Grove Street, Middleboro, 508 946-5565) is just that.

Linda stopped in to check it out and was very impressed by the cleanliness, quality and selection. Everything is made to order - even salads. Nothing is just sitting around getting old and stale. It's not easy to impress Linda, so this must have been exceptional.

They carry Dietz & Watson deli meats and have artisan cheeses by the pound. Redskin Potato Salad, tuna, egg, chicken and seafood salad, burgers, subs, chicken wings, fish and chips, paninis, Mediterranean sandwiches, salads. Good prices, and...

They deliver to Oak Point for $2.50! (minimum $8.00 order).

We haven't tried the pizza yet but did have a very nice tuna sub - white meat, not dripping with mayo like some places (are you listening, DeAngelo's?). Really good, $5.99. Big enough that we shared it for supper.

Check 'em out! Just before Dave's Diner on the same side of Rte 28 if you are traveling away from the rotary. Kitchen open till 10:30 PM.

Just tried The Convenience Store Pizza and Deli after seeing it listed here last week. We tried the Greek salad (small) which was enough to feed 3-4 people. The salad was very fresh and tasted great. We also tried a small cheese pizza which was also very good. Also while we were there we picked up a bottle of wine and a quart of milk. We were very pleased overall and will try the delivery service and a later date.

We tried a pizza tonight. Got a plain so we wouldn't be distracted by toppings.

Large pizza (16.5 inch!) is $6.99. It's 3 cheeses (cheddar, mozzarella, provolone), not thin, not thick. NOT oily/greasy.

Very fresh, very nice. It's cut in quarters; I could only eat one piece - we'll eat the rest cold.

Great price, good pizza.
