Complaints, Complaints
Yesterday I was listening to a small group of people talking about various things. I don't know what turned the conversation toward it, but suddenly people were complaining. You know, "The salesperson told me I'd have woods behind me, but they cut down all those trees" and "My next door neighbor is practically right on top of me" and so on. I let them go on a bit and then I interrupted with this:
"But you all love Oak Point, right?"
Instant change of mood. "Oh yes!", "Absolutely!", "This is the best place, period", "I love the clubhouse and the trips.." and on and on. From complaints to smiles in 2 seconds or less.
Next time you hear someone complaining ("The mail center is too far away!", "the lawnmowers drive too fast"), try asking that and watch how fast everyone starts talking about how much they love the place.
