Tensions run high here on Lantern Lane as two great armies mass for final battle. The Pro-Casino side, led by General "Young Buck" Lorenzo, is said to be slightly outnumbered by Commander "Silver Fox" Fordham's opposing force, but there are rumors that Lorenzo has recruited air support from the Flying Russian and this tactical advantage may be quite significant.
The Gazebo Skirmish
We know that the war actually began weeks ago at the Lantern Lane Gazebo. Atrocious acts were committed while innocent non-combatants watched in horror. Apologies were made, but bad feelings simmered beneath false smiles of friendliness.
The Pod Ambush
While walking through the pod at the end of Lantern Lane, General Lorenzo was ambushed by a small squad of Fordham's Fighters. Quick on his feet, Lorenzo escaped through the woods and eventually made his way safely back home, but was obviously pale and shaken by the experience. He was seen to go into executive session with the Flying Russian and other top military staff.
Attack at the Bridge
While returning from a day of sailing, Commander Fordham was viciously attacked at the Lantern Lane bridge. Thinking quickly, he pulled to the side and barricaded himself behind his truck while exchanging volleys with Lorenzo's "Slamming Slots" Brigade. A non-combatant woman stood on her porch and declaimed:
Shoot if you must this old gray head, but harm not the Oak Point flag, she said
This confused everyone as there is no Oak Point Flag on Lantern Lane, so the attackers disbanded, running through the woods "screaming like monkeys" according to one witness.
Battle of the Cattails
Unbeknown to Lorenzo, Commander Fordham's crack "Swamp Rats" entered the cattail swamp near the bridge end. They then proceeded forward, intending a surprise attack on Lorenzo's bathroom. They were spotted by sentries at nearly the last minute and a vicious battle ensued in which many frogs were trampled to death beneath the soldiers boots. Cries of "Think of the froggies" were ignored in a frenzy of blood lust.
The Final Confrontation
The shadows grow long on Lantern Lane. Deep rumblings of heavy armament being trundled into position disturb the otherwise peaceful homes. The two armies are entrenched, bitterly opposed to each others ideology, and determined to fight to the end.
It is sad that war will destroy all that we have worked so hard to build, but this is the way of the world. Sometimes this is the only way..
