A neighbor reported finding that someone had tried to enter their home Saturday night. The sliding glass door was locked, but it was lifted off its track to bypass that. Fortunately they also use a bar which prevented the door from being opened more.
I don't know whether that was an attempted robbery or an attempted home invasion. We don't live in a high crime area, but the sad fact is that these types of crimes can happen anywhere. It may be that, as a group, we could be seen as easier targets by some criminals. We're older. We may be forgetful, hard of hearing... or weak and defenseless.
There's no reason to panic, but it is a good idea to review your basic home security. Keep doors and windows locked. Don't make your home an easy target. Be smart, be safe.
