Middleboro Selectman - Al Rullo

To the Residents of Oak Point:

Al Rullo

My name is Al Rullo and I am running for the office of selectman for the town of Middleboro. I have been a lifelong resident of the town with my wife Nancy of thirty eight years and we have raised two children. I served and was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving two years in the Finance Corp. I hold a degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Suffolk University.

Prior to my recent retirement, my career included; working for one of the world's largest international public accounting firms were I earned my CPA, and later for a $6 billion dollar international manufacturing company as a controller. My experience included opening manufacturing plants around the world, buying and selling companies, developing, monitoring and analyzing annual operating plans. I believe this experience will be useful to our town during these challenging financial times. My career has also given me an appreciation for the value of diverse opinions and allowed me to develop the skill sets required to work in a team environment and drive to a common consensus.

Volunteering and getting involved with community activities is not new to me or my wife. I was a former member of the Middleboro Finance Committee, religious education teacher, youth coach for basketball, baseball and soccer. My wife and I worked with the youth and the Middleboro Park Department to fund and develop the skate park and we also helped establish the Middleboro Youth Soccer Association. All of these experiences gave me a greater appreciation for the need to get involved and to give of yourself to make the community we all live in a better place.

Our town's financial problems are serious and will not be resolved quickly. We must develop a strategy to get us back on a sustainable financial plan. The strategy must include cost control, a review of our processes to insure that they encourage future business development and we must reestablish a working relationship with our state representatives, affording us a voice in Boston and the ability to ask for assistance when required. We also need to develop a positive relationship with our adjoining communities, resulting in a opportunity to solve common problems.

In conclusion I urge every one to take an active role and vote on April 4th and I ask for your support to serve as one of your selectman.

Thank you,

Al Rullo
