  • Little Red Woody

A few months ago I saw my neighbor Steve Levesque doing something in his garage. I wandered over to see what was up, and found him tearing apart a dilapidated old golf cart. Steve said this poor thing had a bad argument with a Ford F-150 truck and lost, and it sure looked it. The scratches and dirt were bad enough, but this was badly bent: the whole front end was completely ruined.

Over the next few weeks I'd see Steve busily working on this sad machine. Parts of the frame were broken and needed to be rewelded, but that couldn't be done until other parts were straightened out: this really was a twisted mess.

Well, here it is today after an investment of aproximately $1,500.00 and a lot of hard (and clever) work. Steve says that it could easily cost $6,000.00 to buy something reconditioned this well (though a typical "used" golf cart can be had for less). So much is new here I can't list it all: new wheels, new tires, and of course a brand new and lovingly applied semi-metallic red paint job.

The "woody" trim is an after-market add-on, as are these extra large mirrors (right). Steve has his and his wife's names on the front facing side of the mirrors so there's no doubt who's cart this is.

On nice summer evenings, you are bound to see Steve and Anne tooling around Oak Point taking in the sights and stopping to talk and answer questions about how "Little Red Woody" came to be.

    See Golf Cart also.
