Because of water restrictions and the lack of any measurable rain, you may want to consider turning off your sprinklers and water (hose) the newly planted trees by hand. If you noticed the leaves starting to turn color recently, it's because of a lack of rain water, not the early arrival of the foliage season. A good soaking at the base of each tree at least twice a week will help save them. Most grasses will rejuvenate themselves even if badly burned from the drought.
