You've probably realized that there are some things the trash trucks aren't going to take. If it's something someone else might find useful, you could save it for the big Spring Oak Point sale, but if it's just plain junk and you need to get rid of it..
Well, you could pay someone to take it away. Or you could get a "dump permit" and haul it to the landfill/recycling center yourself. It's not far from us: this Google Map shows the way (almost - the dump is actually on Plympton Street just before the Town Line).
The permit is $25.00 for twelve visits, so you might want to consider sharing the cost with a neighbor or two. The permit runs July to June, so don't buy one in March! Also be sure to be aware of what they will and will not take there: this "Trash & Recyclables" page spells it all out. Especially note the very first item on the "banned" list: "Household Refuse (TRASH)". They do check your load as you enter, so make sure you CAN dump it before you go. Some items require extra fees over and above the permit cost; be aware of those items also.
On the plus side, recyclables (cardboard, plastic bottles and bags and so on) do not require a punch in your dump permit.
