Tugboats
While there is certainly plenty for us to do here at Oak Point, some of us have our own hobbies. Steve Levesque likes to build model boats.
The little tugboat in Steve's hand is twelve inches long. Steve built it almost a decade ago; he says it took him a month or two. He's now started a twenty four inch version, shown in its very beginnings here. Steve says he might finish that by Xmas if nothing else interferes.
The interesting thing about this is that it isn't a kit. Steve bought plans from Berkeley Engineering for a real, fourteen foot boat called "Candu E-Z". He says he just might build the real thing someday (though his wife seems to think otherwise!) but in the meantime, he's "practising".
I asked him why he didn't build a fourteen or twenty eight inch model - the math and measuring certainly would be easier. "I like a challenge", he answered.
We'll report back with photos of the finished product when it is done.
Have a hobby you'd like to share with the rest of us? Let me know - I'm happy to come down and take photos.
