Poker
There isn't a "poker club" at Oak Point, but there are regular games on Thursday and Friday nights. The schedule shows the Thursday night starting at 6:00 and the Friday at 7:00, but very often people are already playing fifteen minutes earlier.
Games range from serious traditional "no wild card" games to dealer's choice, anything goes. Ask the people playing what their rules are; it varies from table to table.
Don't be afraid to come in if you see full tables. Most of us are friendly and will happily split up into two smaller tables to let you join us. If we ever use up all the tables, I don't know what we'd do, but my guess is that one of us would stand up and offer to sit out for a while.
I have heard that there are some tables who don't welcome new players. That's unfortunate: if they want a private game, I think they should play at home and not in the clubhouse. If you run into people like that, just try another table: most of us are nice.
Antes are usually low - ten cents at the tables I play. Some tables have a "royalty" rule - everyone pays a dollar to someone who gets four of a kind or a straight flush, but of course that doesn't happen often. You'll probably endear yourself if you bring a new deck of cards with you.
If you like poker, come on down and join us.
