Book Review 8/2/2007 Tony Lawrence
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
Joan Didion writes about the loss of her husband, John Dunne.
Death of a spouse is a tough subject for people our age. Some of us have experienced that most wrenching of losses ourselves, and almost all of us know someone close to us who has. Moreover, we see our own futures, and know that we may have to face this all too soon, or that our spouse will be left alone after we go.
Those are not easy subjects. Joan lays bare her pain to us, but while tearing at our hearts, she also inspires. You can survive this, you can go on.
I strongly recommend this book to everyone. You will not regret it.
