March, 2009
To the Voters of the Town of
Middleboro,
My
name is Wayne C. Perkins, and I am announcing my candidacy for Town
Moderator. As you probably know, the Moderator organizes, presides over
and regulates the proceedings of our Town Meetings.
As
many of you know, I have served this community as a Selectman for nine
years, was Chairman for six consecutive years and am currently appointed
to the Historical Commission. I also served ten years as a Massasoit
Community College Trustee and served twice as Chairman of the Board.
I also had the pleasure to serve as Chairman of the Fiscal Affairs Committee
and Chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee.
After
being a successful self-employed businessman, I served the Bristol and
Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years, served as a Deputy
Sheriff and the Director of Law Enforcement until I was appointed Chief
Deputy Sheriff in 1996. In 2001, I accepted an appointment as
Director of Policy Form Review with the Massachusetts Division of Insurance
and recently retired from state service as Director of the State Rating
Bureau and Deputy Commissioner of Insurance. I currently work
part time as a consultant.
I
live with my wife June and have been a Middleboro resident for thirty-three
years. I have three children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
I
feel that my experience qualifies me to best serve as your Moderator
and would ask for your vote on April 4, 2009.
Sincerely,
Wayne C. Perkins
